my boys had the pre-school, and i had an off-day at work! probably the first time in years, and me/wife/bro/sil took off for a 10am showing (that must be a first in about 15 years) of “jodha akbar“. the ticket price was Rs.100 at INOX multiplex at the garuda mall – a steal. first things first – [...] if you want to know a bit of recent tibetan history, given the protests that are currently underway, check out this movie. it chronicles how the country got where it now is. btw, snow lion is a major symbol of tebetan buddism and graces its flag. burma recently, tibet now. though it is good to see peaceful [...] may be rock bands do it on myspace.com, by spotting this blog by aamir khan (one of the finest film actor/directors in india) shows a perfect example of a film personality effectively harnessing the concept of ‘connectors’ explained in the book tipping point. the blog is quite rudimentary, but he writes his own posts, responds to some [...] i got to check out both Saawariya and om shanti om, thought i’d write down a bit on what the bollywood diwali-faceoff. saawariya: i think the reviews are a harsh and mis-guided. this movie isn’t meant to take you on a thrill ride, nor an emotional melodrama, nor a ‘paisa-wasoool’ entertainer, nor a boy-girl feel-good love story. [...] desis may have left the motherland, but we don’t leave the movies (or food) behind. i for once, gladly traveled from sacramento to go watch “Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun” in San Jose. we like a few elements in our movies patriotism – anything that says india is heaven on earth |
