how hard should it be to get to an airport? well, from koramangala, the new bengaluru international airport takes a mere two hours to get to. and that too at 7 am in the morning! god help those leaving at 4pm.
the best way to get there is by the shuttle bus operated by the bmtc. the info on the routes is sketchy at best. the best available info is tucked away in two pages – bmtc and bial. the phone numbers for info listed on the airport site never answer the calls.
while figuring out how to get my dad to the airport, i was left wondering how the hell would i find out exactly where the bus stops in koramangala. all i knew from the above links was that it would pass via the forum mall. so me and dad camped out in front of the forum mall (dairy circle side) until we saw the bus pass by – you can tell with the well-lit inside of the bus and many dangling yellow holds for standing passengers. we then chased the bus to it’s destination/starting point in koramangala.

mr shatru, i have pin-pinted the starting point in the map above. the bus takes left from the forum mall, via the saint john’s hospital and krupanidhi college. it stops along with other (regular-looking BMTC buses) in the service road on the right side (left side if you are coming in from HSR layout.

it leaves at 1/2 hr intervals. i don’t know if specific timings (and even if they did publish the timetable, it might not even be relevant!)

the starting point of the bus stop is at 1st block on sarjapur road (going towards koramangala) before you get the koramangala 80ft road right turn.
not sure where it stops near the forum mall. but if you are going towards forum mall on hosur road, it stops on the left side where you get the right turn road towards st.john’s hospital.

hmm.. jyostna. are you going to be arriving in bangalore, hoping to study beauty services while working at a BPO? times aren’t good for jumping into this sort of thing, i’d recommend staying put for a few months.

this is not a BMTC bus. this is a special airport bus, the route number is 7. it stops on sarjapur road just as soon as you enter koramangala from HSR layout on the left side.

Last month I went to board the bus, however, I was not able to get the exact location. Just wanted to verify that “sarjapur road just as soon as you enter koramangala from HSR layout on the left side.” Is it opposite the Hydrabad briyani restaurant, where Pizz corner and the SBI atm is located.
