I always wonder, why people who so much hate something keep on writing it - how/why/what they liked or not. Let me be honest with you. I have been in South for close to 10 years and here people hate everything Hindi or more specifically “North Indians”. I have gone through your blogs and it seems you do watch “Hindi” movies!
And let me tell you that my experience in South has been people do watch Hindi movies, keep ringtones from Hindi movies, dress with Salwar Kameez, seem to tell Lagaan/Swadesh are good movies though they do not understand Hindi!, do eat Punjabi foods or for that matter many north indian food…; but then everything
changes when the word “North Indian” comes in! If people hate it, let them avoid it. No need to drool over or say that it is bad. Is it that difficult to be honest with yourself?
Personally, I do not give a damn whether you belong to North, East, South, West, North East, North West …. And personally I do speak a couple of “South Indian” languages.
Please excuse if it is a wrong call - I have come across people in South who have no biases (though it is very rare)

it’s a wrong call.
i am not sure about the point you are trying to make, but if you don’t want to be hated, stop hating!

Hatred only brings hatred. Though I try my best; the looks on their faces, questions like - “North Indian aa??”, if you speak Hindi you will be downright shown the door even in many central govt. departments in certain parts of South India (and central govt. deptt. allow it, pay for it!) - just is shocking and clearly brings out more hatred. Point is clear. There is an intense division between North India and South India - I have seen it to be actuely present in many pockets of South India, especially one state. Sometimes I find the feeling to worse than racist feelings! Paradoxically, the same people do follow many things “North Indians” or “Hindi”. And “Hindi” is not my mother tonque, though with it I have never been questioned in any other part of “North India”!
The other day I was stopped at Nandi Hills with the member of my family as I am “fair” (or comparatively!), do not have a moustache and thin! I was only allowed to enter when I spoke their tongue (one policeman, who was not from Karnataka, was particularly very offensive).
If it is a wrong call, we need more people like you!

i know about the backlash against north indians, especially in tamil nadu. this goes way back to the days when Aakasha Vani was too hindi a name to use for tamil radio stations.
but where i come from (andhra) there’s none of it.

Dear Anonymous,
As a south indian, I can assure you that we do not hate north Indians, although sometimes we are a bit disappointed by the lumping together of all of us southies as ‘madrasis’, and the hindi stuff. That said, no no hatered. If anything, we all agree that northie girls, esp gujarat and northward, are quite exquisite in their looks. No kidding!

You actually kidded and skidded to a new level, beyond the argument. I never bring in women to question! It shows your character (perhaps next you will bring children). I doubt you are an Indian or North Indian or South Indian or West Indian or East Indian etc! And even if you are, you know what - people like you are black marks in any society.
Look at the orginal post of Spandana and his subsquent arguments. He also put the name of an actress, but never tried to utilize it in a wrong way.
Btw, to go with main case, in India, there are 29 languages which are spoken by more than a million native speakers, 122 by morale than 10,000 (census 2001 and by 2011 it will be perhaps more!). I am not a Gujurati either. Now that will be a difficult permutation for you, is not it?
And here only in South (particularly in some fanatic pockets) one is questioned about where one comes from?
The fact is that they do not leave anyone, or any other culture (US, Japanese, European - I have seen and known) - but lick there … That is funny!

Swayam,
be sportive. Do not become like one of those fundamentalists. Do not hate anyone for appreciating beauty. People like you just look for reasons to judge, hate and keep trying to gain moral high ground. Make love not war., okay?
People who judge quickly, (’black mark on the society’
) are the real PITAs in todays world. only if such people were to collectively go to some uninhabited planet to live the rest of their life in boring discussions on how uplifted they themselves are would the world be a much better place for the rest of us, the ones who would like to call a rose a rose.
And Swayam, I am so shocked that you thought of ‘children’ in that context! What a dirty mind you have! The rest of us all agree that children are cute, adorable, wonderful no matter from which part of the world. No not in that way, you dirty mind.
Anyway, respond if you have to, I’m done on this.. I am sure Spandana’s original posts spirit is very much along the lines of admiring, loving, and *not* hating. Please do not bring other emotions into it. If you wear yellow tinted glasses, then of course..

Oh, I’ll respond. Be sporting dear - in sports first you have got a name. Even taking women into account all “exquisites” South Indian beauties get hooked to North Indians, manytimes even as a 2nd wives (Sri…, Hem…)! And recently..
Bottomline, you continue playing your game which you call to be sportive. Smile on face, stab behind and act smart. Only difference this time is you are much more exposed as compared to earlier because a number of people across India has come to know your true colors after coming into touch with many cities here!
