the house is a bottomless pit of junk! we spent all day packing until the luggage maxed out. the airlines allow 25kg per bag, and 2 bags per person. and closed down the kitchen and giving away whatever stuff we had left over to friends and neighbors or at the goodwill donation center (they are awesome.. they take pretty much anything!).
took care of a few other mundane things like scheduling a cable disconnection, but kept the phone/dsl - can’t live without the web! (that i will do after going to india over phone).
the magnanimity of a few friends is going to keep us well fed over the next few days until we leave. btw we had many friends over for tea yesterday - the place was so full we barely had standing room. it was nice to see a full house and that so many folks cared - it’s a blessing and it was duly counted.

Maybe everyone came over to visit so they could take some of those free kitchen appliances you’re giving away.

oh yeah. each of them got some groceries and spices (whether they wanted them or not!)
