Now On Vote Your Local Public Initiatives
quick props to Yahoo! Local for their release of Neighbors feature. the site has come a long way after the Our City concept came out of Bangalore. it upgraded the maps feature, reviews, the rotating headlines similar to Yahoo! TV, and now the neighbors feature.
it allows neighbors to post suggestions that are relevant to local communities and lets citizens to vote on them, digg-style. only you can digg them, but can’t bury them. it’s being tested, i suspect there is an elaborate launch/media plan behind the launch initiative.
i work at yahoo, and glad to see this property lead the way after some welcome competition from geek-friendly Yelp and their informal relationship with with Google. now only if they can make all that good stuff friendly to mobiles/blackberries, improve the search relevancy and then this site would really rock.
