had a chance to meet the founders of the music sharing site muziboo at the open coffee club bangalore, hosted by thoughtworks. it has a host of user-generated music clips, some original compositions and some amateur renditions of others’ tunes - here’s one emulating green day. The site has a few hundred such tunes. with the usual stuff like ratings, comments, tagging, profile pages, the embed codes, social bookmarking, and the recommendations, the site seems to have the basics in place., clearly inspired by sites like youtube.

the site promises to find audience for the amateur music, not sure how much audience it really is generating (the tunes aren’t going to wow you), but it seems to be a good place for budding artists to band together to review each others’ work.

with the limited audience for western music, (that too in the amateur segment), audience might be hard to come by within indian internet population, so bollywood focus could prove a welcome tweak to the strategy at this point.
